PowerFLARM Flex Service Campaign
Free Optimization of 1090 MHz Reception
FLARM Technology AG is announcing a voluntary service and quality measure for one of the first production batches of PowerFLARM Flex. Customers can now have their affected device reworked free of charge.
Background to the Service Campaign
As part of our continuous product and quality monitoring, and based on feedback from practical use, we found that reception on the 1090 MHz channel (ADS-B In, Mode S, Mode C) in a specific batch of PowerFLARM Flex devices falls short of the intended range. This is caused by a variation in antenna matching. We subsequently revised the assembly. Since mid-2026, all new PowerFLARM Flex devices have been shipped exclusively with the optimized assembly.
What Does This Mean for You?
- No impairment of other systems: All other functions of the affected devices—in particular the primary collision warning system using FLARM-to-FLARM radio communication on 868 MHz—remain completely unaffected and fully operational.
- No safety hazard: Following a detailed risk assessment, there is expressly no risk requiring remedial action (such as a product safety recall); there is no reason to discontinue use.
- No urgency: This is expressly a voluntary goodwill and service campaign to optimize range, not a product safety recall. You can conveniently have the service performed during the winter break.
Process for Customers in the EU and Switzerland
To make the process as quick and straightforward as possible, service is provided by our specialized and authorized service partner within the European Union and, for customers in Switzerland, in Switzerland.
What to do:
- Check: At https://returns.flarm.com/en/check/, you can use the device serial number (format: FLAFLX10W-…) to check whether your device belongs to the affected batch.
- Registration: If so, register your device at https://returns.flarm.com/en/flex using the serial number of your PowerFLARM Flex.
- Shipping: You will receive all information and shipping instructions by email for sending the device to the service partner. Depending on the workload at the workshop, this may take a few days. We will, of course, cover the postage costs.
- Service time: The rework is expected to take 1–2 weeks.
- Use: Until you actually send the device to the service partner, you may continue to use it without restriction within the scope of its described functions.
Process for Customers Outside the EU and Switzerland
Customers outside the EU and Switzerland should contact their dealer to have the service performed.
