The founders of Flarm

Development of FLARM started during the founders spare time. The developers of FLARM are active pilots.

Urs Rothacher, age 37, licensed pilot since almost 20 years, one glider flight of 1040km, raced in various gliding competitions. Prior to founding FLARM, Urs was a VP with a successful Swiss startup company in the field of microsensors. He graduated from ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) with a M.Sc.E.E. His other interests include sailboat racing, kite surfing and skiing.

Andrea Schlapbach, age 36, over 1700 hours and instructor and glider instrument rating, various gliding competitions, Gold C with all diamonds and one flight over 1040km. He graduated from ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) with a M.Sc. in Natural Sciences. He works on risk management with a reinsurance company.

Urban Mäder, age 31, 500 hours as pilot in command. M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, works on his Ph.D at the Automatic Control Laboratory of ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology).
